History of Good News ZA
Good News ZA is established in January 2014 by Theo and Jinke de Jong. After two years at another organisation, God spoke to them to work fulltime among children and young people.
Theo and Jinke worked in 2013 at the Primary School in Knysna, where Theo did Bible teaching on Friday morning. Together with a team, they also coached the pupils of the Knysna High School on Tuesday morning. Both activities continued after the establishment of Good News ZA. The same goes for the children’s program of The Rock Christian Church Knysna, where Theo and Jinke teach the oldest group. As from January 2014, also the interdenominational youth program, organised by The Rock, is added to their activities.
During 2014, it became clear that Good News ZA should focus on the coaching of children and young people from the rural areas of Knysna. In February 2014, Theo and Jinke were introduced to the village Karatara during an interdenominational church service. As from February, the children’s program in Karatara started by means of Kids parties. As from April, Good News ZA is involved in the Assembly and the Life Skills-program at the Karatara Primary School on Monday morning. As from October 2014, this program is also performed at the Barrington Primary school.
